ANDREW APY (Jason) was last seen as Colin in The Secret Garden produced by Theatreworks in Palo Alto. Prior roles include youth theatre performances, such as StarStruck Theatre’s Les Miserables (Gavroche) and Beauty and the Beast (Lefou), StageOne Theatre’s Willy Wonka Jr (Charlie), and Broadway Workshop’s debut of an original work, Musicville, where he created the role of the evil Tangy Error. He has studied theatre with Broadway Workshop in New York, and American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and has been a soloist in several youth choirs. Check him out on YouTube! He dedicates his performance to his culturally diverse extended family residing in Beijing, Hawaii, the West Coast, New York and New Jersey.
Jean Harriet (Dr. Charlotte) is grateful to be a part of this incredible production. She grew up in the Philippines where she started ballet at age 6. She continued training in dance after migrating to California in high school. She fell in to musical theatre in her early 20s when her best friend (now husband) lured her into her first audition. She later trained in jazz and tap under her friend and mentor, Berle Davis. His work inspired her to become a choreographer. For the past 11 years, she has been the dance director and resident choreographer for StarStruck Theatre in Fremont, CA. As a performer, her theatre credits include: Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar (CLTC), Diana Morales in A Chorus Line (BBBay) and Anita in West Side Story (BBBay). Her most recent work as director/choreographer was Altar Boyz (PAP). Jean is an original member of The Cabaret to Fight AIDS, now in their 11th year. Through her work in FALSETTOLAND she wishes to honor those we lost to AIDS, lend strength to those still fighting and celebrate those now able to live with HIV – happy, healthy and free. She thanks her wonderful husband for his enduring love and immeasurable patience.
Lawrence-Michael C. Arias (Mendel) was last seen in CSU East Bay’s Almond Eyes as crooner Larry Ching. He has performed with many local theaters all over the SF Bay Area including: Theatreworks (M. Butterfly 2006, Red, as Roy/Mrs. Taylor in Batboy: The Musical, Jane Eyre: The Musical, & as the British Admiral/Merchant in Pacific Overtures 2001, Actors’ Theatre Center (Czolgosz in Assassins & Sheriff in Best Little...Texas), Children’s Musical Theatre of San Jose (as the only adult role, Tom, in Schoolhouse Rock Live!), Busbarn Theatre (The Goodbye Girl), Woodminster (Flower Drum Song), The Western Stage (Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha), Sunnyvale Community Players (as Agwe in Once On This Island). He has performed with Guggenheim Entertainment in touring productions all over the state. He was a Haitian dancer in San Francisco’s 1997 Carnaval Parade with Rythm & Motion Dance Troupe. Award-winning performances include South Valley Civic Theatre’s Anything Goes (Moonface - Best Actor), Camelot (Merlin - Best Supporting Actor), and Annie (Rooster - Best Supporting Actor). Other credits include SVCT’s Jesus Christ Superstar (Judas), A Funny Thing...Forum (Pseudolus), Netless Theatre’s You Should Be So Lucky (Wanda Wang), Pismo Light Opera Theatre’s Hello, Dolly! (Barnaby). He can be heard as the Tagalog-speaking announcer for several Xoom.com TV Spots. He would like to thank his family and friends, as well as the extensive Theatrical and Bay Area communities for their support!
Romar DeClaro* (Whizzer) was last seen playing the role of Lun Tha in last summer’s production of The King & I with Broadway By The Bay. Prior to that, he portrayed the role of Mereb in the highly acclaimed production of Elton John’s Aida. He has performed in several musicals and dance concerts including AMTSJ’s production of Miss Saigon and Phantom. He was a frequent performer with California Musical Theatre (aka The Sacramento Music Circus) with credits such as West Side Story, A Chorus Line, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Joseph and...Dreamcoat. He also had an opportunity to work with the composer, creator and writer of Dreamgirls on a world premier production of Kept with Theatreworks and a production of Pacific Overtures (2001). Other credits include Once On This Island, Cabin in the Sky, Jumbo, Sweet Charity, Gypsy, Flower Drum Song, Pirates of Penzance to name a few. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Accounting and attended CSU Sacramento. Romar is an accomplished real estate professional by trade and continues to grow in every facet of the industry. He has volunteered “sweat equity” for Habitat for Humanity in the last seven years and truly supports and holds the charity near and dear to his heart. Romar has created and produced Benefit Concerts for the East Bay Habitat for Humanity and has provided the charity with over $15k in donations. He would like to dedicate this performance to his life-partner for his unending support and love!
Alex Hsu* (Marvin) is thrilled to take part in StirFry Theatre's inaugural production of Falsettoland. He has performed all over the country but believes in creating more opportunities for Asian-American actors right here in the Bay Area. US National tours: Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, The King and I with Stefanie Powers. NY: Miss Saigon (Westchester Broadway). Jennifer Oku (Trina) was last seen as Aida at Busbarn Stage Company five years ago. She is honored to make her return to the stage as part of StirFry Theatre’s debut. She has also been seen in And The World Goes Around (Busbarn Stage Company), Sweeney Todd and Ragtime (Foothill Musical Theater), On The 20th Century and Children of Eden (American Musical Theatre of San Jose), The King and I (Saratoga Drama Group), and Once On This Island (Sunnyvale Community Players). She would like to thank her family and friends for all of their support and encouragement through the years.
Nicole Tung* (Cordelia) is a proud Equity member born and raised in the Bay Area. She is thrilled to share the stage again with great friends in this new endeavor and hopes this will give Asian-Americans (and others) another venue to share their creative voice. Credits include: South Pacific (Liat), Miss Saigon (Mimi), Cabaret (Frenchie), Pacific Overtures (Kanagawa Girl), Flower Drum Song (Linda Low), Candide (Paquette), Almond Eyes (Dorothy Toy). Her favorite role to date: Playing Mrs. Sarich opposite her husband, Jason. Love you more.
Jessica Coker* (Stage Manager) is thrilled to be working in her first StirFry production. Most recently she was a part of the world premiere cast of Tales of The City at the American Conservatory Theater. Past works include, The Heaven Play - a reading (ACT), Songs for a New World, The Rocky Horror Show (Magenta), The West Coast Premiere of Jerry Springer the Opera (Shawntel) with Ray of Light Theatre. Asphalt Beach (Deb) as part of the TheatreWorks New Works Festival and 8-Track, sounds of the Seventies with Theater on San Pedro Square. She also performs with her cabaret group B.O.O.B.S. (Busty Outrageous Over-the-top Broads Singing), recent productions at the Rrazz Room, Martuni's, Marines Memorial Theater, Cosmopolitan Cabaret. Graham-a-rama and Great America. Doug McGrath (Piano) is delighted to be working with StirFry Theatre on this production of Falsettoland. Over the years, he’s been involved with several gay and lesbian choruses around the Bay Area, played in the pit orchestras for a number of community theater productions in the South Bay, and performed at the Gaslighter Theater on and off for 15 years. He is currently accompanying the Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus. Software engineering supports his musical habit, and when not playing piano or writing code, he can be found underwater with the Northern California Rainbow Divers.
